After spending six weeks learning about promoting, designing, and evaluating accessibility in OERs, we decided that our action item from the institute would be to create an accessibility toolklit for CSU faculty who receive our textbook affordability grants.\r\n<h1>Why an accessibility toolkit for authors of OER?<\/h1>\r\nThrough 2023, the <a href=\"https:\/\/pressbooks.ulib.csuohio.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CSU Pressbooks collection<\/a> included a resource on best practices in accessibility <a href=\"https:\/\/pressbooks.ulib.csuohio.edu\/accessibility\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in online course design<\/a>.\u00a0 However, we did not have a resource specifically for creators of OER who want to ensure that their audio, video, textual, or visual content within their Pressbooks text meets accessibility standards.\r\n\r\nWe created this resource primarily for faculty who are recipients of Cleveland State University's <a href=\"https:\/\/library.csuohio.edu\/affordable-learning\/grant.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Textbook Affordability Small Grant, <\/a>which is funded by<span data-contrast=\"auto\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" lang=\"EN-US\" class=\"TextRun SCXW39459298 BCX0\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW39459298 BCX0\">\u00a0CSU's Michael Schwartz Library. <span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW245664091 BCX0\">All Textbook Affordability Grant recipients whose work involves the creation of <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW245664091 BCX0\">new content<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW245664091 BCX0\"> will be directed to this resource to help them design with an intentional focus on accessibility.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>\r\n\r\nBeyond CSU, we hope this text is a useful resource for all faculty who want to ensure and\/or enhance the accessibility of their OERs. <span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">The suggestions we provide in this text are intended for the non-technical user.
