The Education Art Collection

Introduction

The Education Art Collection (EAC) is a powerful resource, a museum-within-a-museum, that can be observed and handled by the public, offering opportunities for hands-on and/or community engaged programming. A peer collection to the CMA’s fine art collection, it is managed by the PAE Division and has separate collections management and acquisition policies and procedures. Its unique character is in part related to its history as a collection primarily selected by and for educators. In addition to being encyclopedic, mirroring that of the CMA’s fine art collection, its 10,000 objects emphasize craft, folk art, process, design, and art for the masses. It is especially strong in artworks by indigenous makers around the world.
