DeHart Gender & Occupy Wall Street
For lack of a good audio-only interview at this time I am using for practice.
“David Goldberg interview, 29 June 2016,” Cleveland Voices, accessed October 13, 2024, https://clevelandvoices.org/items/show/1781.
The interviewee is Dr. David Goldberg. A CSU Professor who was sentenced to 19 months in federal prison for resisting the draft in the Vietnam War..
The Interviewer is Naomi A. Randt
The interview was done on June 29th, 2016
The audience would be people looking into the results of the anti-war protesting or draft dodging. This is an excellent source for examining the consequences of dodging the Vietnam War draft.
The interview is archived on ClevelandVoices.org run by the CSU Center for Public History & Digital Humanities.
Quote starts at [00:09:28]
in the interview.
“Well, a good question about was there activism or attention to the war in prison? I would say not very much. The first thing I noted, most people really didn’t care what you were in for. And that wasn’t much of an issue. And a lot of times, I always knew who the NARAs were. I mean, I was the only draft resister in my dormitory. And I got to know a good number, I would say especially of the African-American prisoners. And I can mention a project I worked on with some of them. So there wasn’t that much attention to what you went in for.”
As this is not part of my topic pertaining to the Occupy Movement, this is for practice, but in a digital media archive on how the what happened to those who dodged the draft in Vietnam, this could be a very powerful source. I feel this sort of medium has a place within such an archive and Video and Audio interviews could play a major part in my own topic, which is occupy Wall Street.
