Transgender Day of Visibility<\/h1>\r\n\"\"\r\n

Purpose<\/h4>\r\nThe purpose of this presentation is to raise awareness of the rights of transgender people in the United States amidst growing hostility in state legislatures and to understand the role Transgender Day of Visibility is playing in drawing attention to transgender issues such as healthcare access, equal access to education and violence through rallies and protests.\r\n

Introduction and Background<\/h4>\r\nTransgender Day of Visibility (TDoV) was started in 2009 by Rachel Crandall as a response to all of the negativity surrounding Transgender people. She was hoping to bring some joy to the issue. Transgender Day of Visibility 2023 - Protest and Rally<\/h6>\r\nTransgender Day of Visibility in 2023 included protests and rallies \u00a0across the country on March 31, 2023 in response to the increasing hostility around trans people and trans rights. The day is an opportunity for transgender people to gather together to celebrate their lives and accomplishments.\r\n\r\nIt is also a time to be visible and draw attention to issues of importance to the transgender community. 2023 was a year particularly full of anti-transgender legislation being proposed in states across the country. Rachel Crandall<\/h6>\r\nRachel Crandall is the founder of Transgender Day of Visibility. She wanted to highlight the lives and accomplishments of trans people instead of the dead. Before she started the celebration, the only day to recognize transgender people was Transgender Day of Remembrance which was dedicated to transgender people who had been killed during the previous year.
