7.20 Vocation vs. Avocation

Not everyone who is passionate about local government and public service will choose to pursue it as a full-time career, and that’s perfectly okay. There are many ways to support the important work that local governments do without committing to a career in the field. Whether you’re interested in making a difference in your community or simply want to stay engaged with local issues, there are several meaningful avenues for involvement through volunteerism, advocacy, and philanthropy.  

Volunteerism is one of the most direct ways to contribute to your community and support local government efforts.
