Chapter 1 – Defining Public Service
1.9 Internships
An internship is a short-term, supervised work experience that lets students apply what they learn in the classroom in a professional setting. Internships help students gain practical skills, explore career paths, and make connections that may lead to future opportunities.
When considering an internship, students should focus on whether the work matches their interests and offers meaningful responsibilities. It is also important to ask how the experience will help build skills and move career goals forward.
At the Levin School, some majors require an internship for students who do not already have substantial work experience. These experiences are intended to link coursework with real-world practice. More information is available on the Levin School’s internship website: https://levin.csuohio.edu/lssc/student-internships.
