16.4 Levin Graduates Lead: Gina Vernaci (Former Playhouse Square CEO)

Gina Vernaci, a distinguished leader in the performing arts industry, dedicated more than 39 years to Playhouse Square, ultimately serving as its President and CEO before retiring in 2023. Under her leadership, Playhouse Square solidified its status as one of the largest performing arts centers in the country, attracting world-class Broadway productions and fostering a thriving arts scene in Northeast Ohio.

Vernaci played a key role in expanding Playhouse Square’s Broadway programming, helping Cleveland become a top-tier market for national tours. She also led significant initiatives to enhance audience engagement, arts education, and community outreach. Her efforts helped ensure that Playhouse Square not only brought entertainment to the region but also contributed to economic development and cultural vibrancy.

A CSU Levin School alum, Vernaci exemplifies the impact of public service in arts leadership. Her career demonstrates how arts administrators can shape the cultural landscape of a city, creating opportunities for artists and enriching the community.
