23.2 Do I Have to Move to Washington, D.C.?
Not all federal employees work in Washington, D.C. While the nation’s capital is home to many headquarters offices, many federal jobs are decentralized across the United States. In fact, more than 80 percent of federal employees work outside of Washington, D.C.
Federal Jobs in Northeast Ohio
- Veterans Affairs (VA) – Hospitals and clinics employ doctors, nurses, administrators, and social workers.
- Internal Revenue Service (IRS) – Offices in the Cleveland area provide roles in tax administration and auditing.
- Department of Labor (DOL) – Regional offices support workforce development and enforce labor laws.
- Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) – Research and regulatory positions in its regional office.
- U.S. District Court – Legal and administrative positions in Cleveland’s federal courthouse.
