9.4 Levin Graduates Lead: Chief Calvin D. Williams
Calvin D. Williams is a distinguished law enforcement professional and former Chief of the Cleveland Police. A Levin School alum, Williams’ career spans over 30 years, starting as a patrol officer and rising through the ranks to become Cleveland’s Chief of Police in 2014.
During his tenure, Chief Williams implemented community policing initiatives aimed at building trust between the police and the community. He was instrumental in reforming the department to comply with a federal consent decree, which focused on improving use-of-force policies and accountability measures. Williams is known for his dedication to making Cleveland a safer place and for his commitment to fostering positive relationships between law enforcement and the residents they serve. His career reflects the impact of strong leadership and a deep commitment to public service.
Williams is currently serving as the Police Chief of Richmond Heights, Ohio. He took on this role in March 2023, over a year after stepping down from Cleveland Police. He brings decades of experience in law enforcement to his new position, continuing his commitment to public safety in a neighboring community.
