Like the Speaker, the President of the Senate oversees legislative sessions and appoints committee chairs and members for the majority party. And like the speaker, they have de facto veto power over all potential legislation by deciding which bills get floor votes in which do not.\r\n\r\n<\/div>\r\n<div style=\"font-weight: 400\">\r\n\r\nThe current President of the Senate is Rob McColley (Republican), who is serving his second term in the Ohio Senate, representing Senate District 1.
