Book Description: This book is a product of a grant to Cleveland State University, directed by the editor and funded by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, U.S. State Department. The grant, titled “A Comparative Curriculum for Criminology and Deviance,” brought together sociologist from the respective public universities of Cleveland, Ohio and Kano, Nigeria to research problems of social deviance and community response common to both urban settings, but with a focus on Kano as the empirical context.
