Right to Vote Institute: Digital Resources for Teachers

2020 marked the 150th anniversaries of two of the most important suffrage amendments to the Constitution, the 15th and 19th Amendments. As the past year has shown, the right to vote represents a cornerstone of democracy that carries meaning beyond its fundamental importance in representative government. Educating students about the struggle for voting rights and the meaning of suffrage is of vital importance. To that end, Cleveland State University, the Educational Service Center of Northeast Ohio, and Ohio Humanities present a two-hour workshop introducing digital sources and tools for K-12 teachers from the Cleveland Teaching Collaborative, the Smithsonian Institution, and the Library of Congress. The workshop will feature professors from CSU and John Carroll University whose work focuses on teaching gender, race, African-American, and women’s history.
