About the Author
Michael D. Okrent, Doctor of Science, Sc.D. Management Systems, MBA in Finance, BS Industrial Engineering
Dr. Okrent has been a practicing Project Manager and Process Improvement Consultant since 1990, working in a variety of industries with Hewlett-Packard, Agilent Technologies, Yale University, and Cleveland Clinic. In addition, he is currently an adjunct senior lecturer at Cleveland State University, University of Bridgeport, New Jersey Institute of Technology, and Colorado State University – Global campus. Previously he was an adjunct lecturer in the MBA programs at Southern Connecticut State University, Fairfield University on a variety of topics including Management Processes, Strategic Management, Entrepreneurship, Project Management, Small Business Planning, Global Sourcing, and Vendor Management. Before becoming a Project Manager, he was an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Quality Consultant with Hewlett Packard. Dr. Okrent also has earned certifications in the following areas:
- Supply Chain Management (CSCP), Production and Inventory Control (CPIM), and Integrated Resource Management (CIRM) from ASCM/APICS.
- Manager of Quality/ Organizational Excellence (CQM/OE), Quality Engineer, and Quality Auditor from ASQ.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) from PMI.
- Lean Bronze Certification (LBC) from SME

He recently retired from the Cleveland Clinic. Before this, he was a Change Generalist in the Yale University Organizational Change Management group, Chairman of the Bethany CT Clean Energy Task Force, a member of the SNEC-PMI Board of Directors, and a private pilot (SEL). In 2010, he converted a Chevrolet S-10 Pickup truck to battery power. Currently, he makes things on his 3D printers. Dr. Okrent is also on the board of directors of the Tri-Community CERT. (Community Emergency Response Team).
