What is the use of AI?

  • For idea generation? Brainstorming titles is an example that came up in discussion
  • For a product deliverable? It depends on the situation. In some cases such as emails it may be acceptable. In many cases such as assignments it may not be.
  • For a process? This is a good use of AI. As a way of getting things started, or asking for clarification of a prompt, or using the socratic tutor. Critical thinking is critical (pun intended) in using AI as part of the process.
  • The prompt is key.

How is AI being used in the workplace right now?

  • According to some Reddit data, AI is being used in the workforce across a range of professions as both a process tool and to create a product.
  • Process:
    • How do I start this problem?
    • Troubleshooting and debugging code and Excel formulae
    • Revising text
    • Generating lesson plan ideas and mock datasets
  • Product:
    • Writing emails, code, and LinkedIn bios
    • Making social media and blog posts
    • Converting reports in to billable invoices

What are some things to watch out with AI going forward?
