The Archives of the Cleveland Health Sciences Library was established in 1967 as a repository for the records of the Cleveland Medical Library Association, which is part of the Cleveland Health Sciences Library. In addition, it is a repository for other records which document the history of medicine in Ohio, especially the Western Reserve, such as the papers of physicians and other health-related professional, records of medical societies, hospitals and other medical institutions. A large picture and certificate collection is also available to researchers.

The Archives is one part of the Historical Division of the Cleveland Health Sciences Library which also includes the Howard Dittrick Museum of Historical Medicine and a medical-historical rare book collection. It is located on the third floor of the Allen Memorial Medical Library, 11000 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44106 and is open to the public (free of charge) from 10:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., Mondays through Fridays and by special arrangement on Saturdays. Photocopying services are available subject to the discretion of the Archivist, and in-house use of the general collections of the Cleveland Health Sciences Library is permitted.

Publications by the Historical Division include Iatros published in September and January and Occasional Contributions to the History of the Health Sciences, a pamphlet series.
