Among the resources of the City Planning Commission are the Neighborhood Data Books (NDBs) which provide the following:

  • An up-to-date source for the latest in basic information and demographics on each of Cleveland’s 35 Statistical Planning Areas (SPAs). SPAs are based on census tracts and were designed to roughly approximate current neighborhood boundaries.
  • Prepared by the City Planning Commission, NOBs are an excellent tool for community groups, researchers, planners, and others interested in learning more about the City of Cleveland.
  • Complete sets of NDBs or individual SPA volumes are available as well as copies of individual pages—all at low cost.
  • Each volume (one for every SPA) is available punched for a standard three-ring binder so that new information in the form of updates can be added in the future. Owners of the complete set of individual SPA volumes can have their name put on a mailing list to receive updates.
  • Complete sets of NOBs are available for use during regular business hours at the Cleveland Public Library’s Public Administration Library located on the 1st floor of City Hall and the offices of the City Planning Commission.
  • Sampling of topics include:
    —Basic profile of the neighborhood
    —Basic population data
    —Vital statistics
    —Public assistance statistics
    —Housing and commercial data
    —Public safety figures
    —Schools and libraries
    —Parks and recreation
    —Land use/Zoning
    —Community organizations
    —Infrastructure/Capital improvements
    —Historic sites
—Maps of streets, census tracts, wards, police and fire districts
