Chapter 6.0 Spiritual Considerations

So far in this book we have covered biological, psychological, and social domains.  An understanding of the role and function of spirituality is the missing link to the full bio-psycho-social-spiritual perspective.  While not salient to all clients, it is important for substance misuse counseling professionals to integrate spiritual domains into a comprehensive assessment. When indicated, spiritual or religious substance abuse treatment may enhance treatment for some clients.
